Winter Retreat Rawks!!!

Hey, I finally loaded up my pics from Winter Retreat. What a great time. I love that place, it’s so pretty. I enjoy my girl-time and my shopping-time so much. And shop, I did! We won’t talk about how much. It was a lot! Hehe! Oh, and the food. Man, I love the food. I even stayed up until midnight on Friday (it’s Lent, ya know), specifically to eat Miss Linda’s Sloppy Joes. Yes, they are that good. Oh my gosh! I loved my classes too.

Got to tell a brag story about Diana’s frame class. DH sees it and says “what’d you buy this for?” in a “we don’t need more tchotcke crap” kind of voice. I tell him “I didn’t buy it, I made it”. He looks at me dumbfounded for a second and says “You MADE this???” “Yes, I made it!” “Whoa!” He thought it looked so professional that he thought I picked it up in a store. Now, how about that? Then I can show him the frame back from Ikea, and I can do any color combination you want. So now he has an idea. Shrink down some record album covers, and glue some of those on the squares. See, the boy really thinks, doesn’t he?

Shout out to Miss Jules, I picked up your magazine at the Michael’s in New Tampa! You are a star, baby!!!

I went by Michael’s to waste some time, while DH was at Circuit City getting a new stereo put in his car. I’m looking for a new flower arrangement for my table, and I found one I think I like, but I’m going to check Carrollwood to see if they have anything. Now, normally I hate the Carrollwood store, but their floral designer is really good. There used to be a really good silk plant place across the street from them, but they went out of business a few years ago. So, if any of you know a good place to find floral arrangements, holla!

Well, I shipped my MP3 player back to Best Buy. I’m really bummed about not having it, especially since they told me it would be about 10-15 business days before I would get my gift card so I can buy a new one. Oh, I’m so lost without it. It’s been with me 24-7 since I first bought it a year and a half ago. Good thing is I had the extended warranty, so I’m getting my money back (well, a gift card), and not some refurbished model that’s been sitting around and lord knows if it work or not. And the Ipod I’m getting to replace it will be 80gbs!!! What will I do with 80gbs??? I couldn’t even fill the 30 gbs one I had? But for the same price, who am I to argue...

So I’m listening to some music I have here on my harddrive, which is better than nothing I guess. It’s about 4 gb of music, so it should keep me entertained. Damn our boss for not letting us do streaming audio, I’d have my XM online, like I did in the old days before he got all paranoid. (Ack, the network’s going to crash, the network’s going to crash, the sky is falling, the sky is falling!) LOL.

Ahhh, is it 5 yet???? I got to go finish my ironing and filing up the new filing cabinet I bought for my office. Busy, busy...

What's the buzz?

I’ve just been checking out all the new CHA stuff on Scraptalk. I always go there every year, because they do such a good job at showing everything there. http://scraptalk.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=583

Not really seeing a whole lot different. Like Jules said, it’s all starting to look alike. Inoue(sp?) has some neat stamps, and Bizou has some pretty stuff, esp. chipboard. Autumn Leaves has some pretty two-sided paper, and one of their new stamp sets has a kitty on it. (Doodlebug has a kitty stamp set, too). Little Yellow Bicycle has some interesting stuff, but a lot of it looks the same. (Like the fabric buttons ala K & Company). Heidi Grace has a too-cute line (with purple! Crate Paper, too!). I see a couple of cool new folder things from Cropper Hopper that I might be interested in. Imaginesce has the cutest little penguins on their Shore Thing line.

What I’m really interested in, is the Slice. I can’t wait to see it in action. (there’s a cute pic of Margie demonstrating it). I’ve also been wanting to try the Glimmer Mist. So, if my Secret Stocking Pal is listening, these might make some great stocking stuffers. (hint, hint!) J I also saw something called the “Scraponizer” which looks like little drawer organizers, that could be neat, depending on price.

Although, I have to laugh at the Anna Griffin “straw” bag here: http://scraptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=26484&size=big&cat=recent&limit=recent

I swear my grandmother had that same back when I was little, circa 1976. LOL!!!

Was I dreaming, or did I read that Lil Davis went out of business? Looks like they were there. Nothing that caught my eye, though. Luxe Designs has a cute Celestial stamp set, that is definitely on my wish list.

Is the industry starting to get over-saturated? I wonder how some of these small companies, like Sonburn even stay in business? You have to have an edge just to make it in this business. Is the uniqueness wearing off? Makes you wonder....

Another Monday

Well, I’m still nursing this bug. I had a pretty crappy weekend, mostly just not getting any sleep, waking up coughing every 5 minutes. These Perle things DO NOT HELP!!!! I’m half tempted to call my ENT and ask him for some REAL cough syrup.

Getting ready to send my taxes off. Just have to give them a final look over tonite, and then send them off. We’re getting a good refund this time around, which is mostly going towards our vacation in May.

Winter Retreat is just around the corner. I’m actually hopeful for warm weather (Yes, I know you all hate me), but it will be good not to get too cold so I don’t get sicker. I’m going to leave Friday morning and make the rounds. Up to Ocala for a Griffin’s/Hobby Lobby trip, through G’ville to Goody’s and hit the Gator Stores, the Publix on 39th (by Ginny’s) and on to Camp Oleno. (Oh, and drive-thru lunch somewhere in there). I’m not packed, but my stuff is grouped up, where I can pull it together pretty easily. Just need to grab my sleeping bag, blankies, pillows, my purple lantern, and some clothes, and I’ll be off.

Diana tagged me, so here goes:

One thing I won’t let my husband buy me…jewelry. Just don’t wear that much, and I’m too picky.
One thing I would love to have, but I probably will never have…a house on the beach
One thing you will never find in my closet…a string bikini
One thing I would choose if I were having elective surgery...lipo all over! (Then, maybe we’ll see that string binkini!)
One thing I love about my face…my eyes.
One thing that I love to do… hang out and laugh with my buds
One thing I would like to change if I could…studied more in school
One thing I would change as a mom…N/A
One thing I would do if I had unlimited money…pay off our bills and build a bigger house
do again…???
One thing that I would like to do…learn to ride a horse
One thing I could do without...paying off these student loans!
One thing I love to smell…vanilla
One thing I would do if I won the lottery…see the answer for unlimited money
One thing that infuriates me...people who should not be parents having babies. (DH says you need a license to drive but you don’t need one to have a kid!)
One thing that I love about winter…not living in it!
One thing I love about scrapbooking…all the friends I’ve made!
One thing I am addicted to…clothes!
One thing I pray for…good health
One thing I wish I had… more money
One thing I would do again, regardless of the pain…hmmm, I have a high tolerance to pain, maybe ride rollercoasters. I get too nauseous nowadays.
One thing that I absolutely hate to do…clean the bathroom!
One thing that is weird about me…I listen to all kinds of music, no matter what (well, except maybe country, but even then...)
One thing that I need help on…being more organized
One thing I find most relaxing...laying around, reading and watching TV
One thing that could get me in trouble…hmmm...ask me when McSteamy shows up! :P
One thing that annoys me…People who can’t drive!
One thing I dread; therefore, don’t do very often…cleaning out my closets or cabinets (like the one in my office, which has been spread out all over the floor for the last two weeks. Although I made a serious dent in it last nite!)

And the verdict is...

I have....Bronchitis. Now, doesn’t that just suck!!! Not what I needed right now. I blame my (former) co-worker, (who I ate lunch with every day and rode in the car with) who got it from her grand-kid who had just started daycare the week before and then passed it on to everyone (and I do mean everyone) here in the office. How pleasant!

So I’m armed with a Z-Pack (the 3 day kind) and those throat pearl things (Was it Kip or Jayne who talked about those? Never tried them), and we’ll be on the mend. Of course, when I mentioned that I was going camping next weekend, the NP gave me that look. The look that says “Hey nutso, you’re supposed to stay out of cold, damp places or you’ll get pneumonia”. Alas, there is the motel down the street, when all else fails. In the meantime, pray for warmth!!!

By the way, those Little Clinics inside Publix are a good deal. My (also-sick) co-worker recommended it to me, and I was in and out in less than an hour, and only had to pay my normal co-pay.

In the meantime, I stole this from Jayne:

10 Years Ago: I worked at TRP, and dh and I were getting engaged. (On V-day to be exact!)

Things on my to-do list today:
Some client things, update my client list as I go, and then go home and rest like they told me to.

What I would do if I were suddenly made a billionaire:
Quit my job and go be a beach bum. (Hopefully in a beach house like Miss Janet!)

3 of my bad habits:
Smoking, of course
Caffeine (mostly Coke)
Not flossing

3 places I have lived:
1) Ft. Lauderdale
2) Gainesville
3) Tampa

5 jobs that I have had:
1) McD’s
2) Marshall’s
3) Rocky Roccoco Pizza (waitressing)
4) Traffic Court Clerk
5) Levitz (office manager)

5 Things people don't know about me:
1) I LOVE the cereal milk (It’s where the nutrients are, Jayne!)
2) I hate olives (unless their chopped up all teeny-tiny on a pizza)
3) I love old soul/R&B music
4) Gosh, there isn’t a whole lot you don’t know about me

I’m tagging Linda, Kip, Dawn (yes, Dawn, YOU!)

DH is in love with another woman

That's right folks, you heard it. DH has found the woman of his dreams. And who is this other woman you ask? It's none other than.... The Pioneer Woman.

Yes, you see I made the Marlboro Man's favorite sandwich last nite. And guess who's favorite sandwich it is now. It was so yummy! I followed Ree's advice at the end and melted some cheese on top. WHOA! I'll tell you though, it makes a lot, we've got plenty of leftovers. But we will definitely be making it again.

We have an unexpected house guest last nite. Travis is sleeping on our couch right now. I'm not really sure of the whole story, since he got here late. I'll give details when I know them.

Yesterday was a lot of fun. I went to Debby Schuh's class with Kip and Diana and I really enjoyed it. As Kip told you, we made a cute travel album with alot of 7 Gypsies stuff. Really cool. We then had lunch and I did some shopping at the BE store and Old Time Pottery. Even found a cheap Christmas cookbook at Borders for half off.

(Sorry for the delay. I was rolling my eyes at some missionary story on Ch. 8, and trying to get Miles to leave Angie alone at the same time).

Well, getting ready for SuperBowl Sunday! We're picking up some sandwiches from Larry's and we're also having Palamilla steak and some other goodies. I'll probably make a little guacamole to nibble on. What a fun day. I'm routing for the Patriots, although I guess it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. Here's hoping it will be a fun filled day!
